THE LOW-DOWN
It’s difficult to narrow in on reviewing one restaurant when there were so many fantastic experiences. For that reason, welcome to ‘A Weekend in Copenhagen’, the short-list of what I managed to get to and the high-level debrief for each.
The restaurant feels like you’re in a large greenhouse, making for an environment that felt comfortable with the many plants. I selected the fish-centric tasting menu. Think heart-shaped waffles with butter, raw, salted halibut in a green gooseberry sauce, the best cod I might have ever had with a beurre blanc and fish roe (what a statement!), a surprise course with a cheese mousse and beets, and an insane raspberry sorbet. The wine pairings were white of course given the fish - I’m not big on white wine but they paired nicely.
A known one that was mostly a stop for something light and fresh. Had the Sonny salad with avocado, and it did the trick.
The coziest, intimate spot. Imagine the tiniest kitchen, where practically only the chef can stand. Really lovely staff, a wall of shelves lined with wine bottles. There’s a seasonal tasting menu that is veggie- and fish-focused, 5 courses. You could see the careful crafting of each course, but they didn’t stop at looks - each dish brought out the unique flavors of the individual ingredients, working seamlessly together to create an explosion of flavors. White fish roe with kale shoots and pumpkin seeds, raw pollock with mustard seeds, sunchokes with an herb sauce, a haddock with an apple sauce and shaved celeriac, and the lightest crème fraîche ice cream with quince and olive oil…I mean, can you tell I was a fan? This was the weekend favorite.
They’re set up in what used to be a neighborhood Thai takeout location. Italo Thai is a no-fuss restaurant, with 3 options for appetizers and 2 for the main dish - cacio e pepe or a green risotto in the case of Sunday’s lunch. The green was from black cabbage, or cavolo nero, and topped with shaved smoked ricotta. I believe the risotto was being made fresh given the time, but it was worth the wait. My taste buds were happy.

WHAT I WORE
What others wore was no disappointment in the weekend following Copenhagen Fashion Week. As for myself, you might have spotted me wearing a coordinated plaid hat and jacket ensemble, with a pleated mini skirt, leg warmers (bringing them back), and ballet flats. Another day was an all denim co-ord, and another was wide-leg, flare jeans with a hardware belt and chunky knit.
WOULD I GO BACK
To Copenhagen? Just say when.
