FAQ

Why not linen?

Why we chose a bamboo and hemp blend (with cotton piping) over 100% linen. Why?

  • Softer Straight Off the Loom – the bamboo content adds a silky handfeel, eliminating the break‑in time pure linen needs to soften.
  • Quicker to Dry & More Absorbent – terry‑like micro‑voids in hemp and bamboo wick moisture faster, then release it sooner than linen’s flax fibers.
  • Built for Heavy Laundering – hemp’s tensile strength means tablecloths survive more wash cycles without thinning.
  • Lower‑Impact Farming – hemp needs ~70 % less water and almost no pesticides, and bamboo self‑regenerates, both outperforming flax in resource efficiency.
  • Naturally Odor‑Resistant – hemp’s antimicrobial properties keep linens fresher between washes, a benefit linen doesn’t natively provide.

Creative process

The napkins are hand cut and hand stitched for piping. They are machine embroidered, with a team carefully manipulating the fabrics alongside the machinery, for the final artisan product. Each napkin and phrase was carefully designed by our founder.

A note on imperfections

Because each piece is handmade, no two are exactly alike, and small variations are part of the charm. Like the best dinner parties, they’re a little imperfect, beautifully personal, and made to be remembered.

At La Graille, our dining napkins are crafted by hand, and even the machine embroidery is hand manipulated. As a result, small variations in color, stitching, fabric, or texture are part of what makes each napkin unique.

We celebrate these details as marks of true craftsmanship, and thanks to this, no two tables (or conversations) will ever be exactly alike.

Care for them gently, and they'll only grow more beautiful with every gathering!
